Spanish is spoken by more than 60 million people in the U.S. Yet for too long it’s been treated, by some, as a temporary inconvenience, not a permanent part of America’s identity.

I’m Javier Marín, author of Live from America: How Latino TV Conquered the United States (Fall 2025, Grupo Planeta—the world’s largest Spanish-language publishing group). Since 2000, I’ve owned Spanish-language media outlets in the U.S. through Tiempo Company, based in Washington, D.C., and Boston. I’m a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management program and live in Ogunquit, Maine, with my wife, Carolina, and our basset hound, Napoleon.

My goal is not only to share history, but also to invite you to reflect, question, and perhaps rethink your tolerance toward Latinos in the United States, a section I call Translating America.

I’ll also write en español about the individuals que admiramos y otros que rechazamos, pero que de alguna manera han impactado a nuestra gente, a section I call Caciques. Thanks to AI, you can now switch seamlessly between Spanish and English, but I promise my writings are not simple translations.

It took me 25 years of investigation to write my book, which means I have far more stories, documents, and insights than could ever fit into its pages. I’ll share them here.
